WELCOME TO CONNECT! At the start of something amazing, our BHI Connect Team would like to wish you the warmest welcome and say thank you for embarking on this journey of allowing students to take ownership of their learning and forge their own, unique paths to college and beyond. What is Connect? Connect Personalized Learning has three core components: 1. Project-based learning 2. Self-paced learning 3. One to one student mentoring Students are self-directed meaning they control when and how they learn the material. Students collaborate with their peers over several weeks to complete rigorous, relevant, collaborative, interactive projects that are geared at preparing students for their futures. In this learning environment, students are able to see themselves in what they are learning. Meaningful connections between students' passions and everyday lives are highlighted allowing for students to safely take academic risks, see challenges as opportunities for growth, and take ownership of their learning. Finally, students meet with a mentor once a week to review goals, discuss barriers to success, and create plans that are going to assist students in mastering the self-directed learning cycle and develop habits of success.
